It's probably best to follow up with the DA2 Companionsas I explain more about applying tactics there.
General Tips for Origins tactics: 1.
Because you acquire tactics slots so slowly in Origins, and in such limited number, it is better to manually activate sustained powers in order to leave more slots open.
I recommend activating sustains for the whole party as soon as you enter a new area.
Exception: Sustains for the Tank should be scripted in the tactics list, to be prepared for ambushes.
You never want the Tank to not be using Threaten or Shield Wall just because you forgot or didn't have the chance to activate it before being jumped.
More than DA2, Origins lends itself to needing a strict party makeup: Tank, Healer, Damage Dealer.

This means either Alistair or Shale, or your Warden.
I recommend Alistair as the stronger Tank or the Wardenthough Shale substitutes well enough for a Tank in the Deep Roads should you need to leave Alistair behind.
Important: In Origins, any character who relies on hitting someone with an actual weapon including teeth and fists needs to be at least tangentially concerned with their Dexterity score, as this determines how often you hit or miss.
Fortunately, DA2 did away with this by implementing bonuses to straight up Attack via items and other properties.
So, without further ado, let's get started with some character Tactics spreads!
All sample tactics lists I'll be sharing in these posts are lists for higher levels.
Fill tactics slots in as the powers become available to you.
It is vital for Wynne to have as many tactics slots as possible.
Second priority should be Combat Training.
Only after those two should you worry about something like Herbalism.
Talents: Max out Spirit Healer, of course.
Max out the top two rows of Creation, and the third row of Creation up to Glyph of Repulsion.
If you have no other Mages in your usual party, I recommend maxing out the bottom row of Spirit for Crushing Prison.
If you do have another Mage who can take that row of talents instead, then I recommend maxing the Mage talents.
Sustains to Activate Manually: Haste, at the beginning of every battle or program it in the first slot if you have extra slots open.
Cleansing Aura only when needed to cure injuries, and then deactivate it.
Self: Health Use health poultice least powerful I tend to hoard potions so I use "least powerful" for the automatic tactics and then manually use more powerful ones as needed 2.
Self: Mana Use lyrium potion least powerful 3.
Self: Health Group Heal 4.
Ally: Health Heal 5.
Self: Mana Mass Rejuvenation or Rejuvenation if I haven't unlocked Mass Rejuvenation yet 7.
Alistair: Health Regeneration If Alistair is not serving as your Tank, substitute whatever character is, be it Shale or the Warden 8.
Ally: Mana or Stamina Rejuvenate Alternatively, I may substitute the specific tank character here for "ally" if I'm playing a more squishy main character who really needs to be sure the Tank always has enough stamina to be using Taunt.
While the trigger in this spread works well enough, you should always keep an eye out for activating Group Heal manually.
Once I fine-tuned this spread for Wynne coupled with a good Tank spreadthat game over screen became a thing of the past.
Only at higher kickapoo casino age Normal difficulties, or in particularly hard boss fights, did I need to even think about healing; Wynne takes care of it all without help.
I would distribute your points evenly in all three until you get the this web page Dexterity you need, at which point I stop investing in Dexterity and invest in Willpower instead.
Skills: Combat Tactics Tanks need less variety in abilities but more tactics slots for contingenciesand then Combat Training.
Talents: It's important to max out the whole top row of Warrior, and the second row up to Taunt.
Max out all rows in Weapon and Shield, but the bottom two rows are more important than the top row.
It feels fancier to have a attack abilities, but your Tank's main job is not to attack; it is to survive.
The Passives will serve Alistair better in the long run.
In regards to specializations, I personally feel Champion is the best option for a Tank.
Though the first talent of Templar, Righteous Strike, is a good passive talent to have.
Only once Weapon and Shield, Champion, and the top row and a half of Warrior are maxed do I start to invest more in Templar.
Unless your Warden is serving the role of Tank, in which case building Alistair the Templar route is a good complement.
The latter is also true for DA2 archers.
Skills: Combat Training is perhaps slightly more important than Combat Tactics, as the higher level archery talents is where the damage is really at.
But you will want to max Combat Tactics as soon as you can afterward.
Talents: I personally feel Leliana is much more potent as an archer; I never spec her for melee at all, or even give her melee weapons.
You can get Melee Archer very early on, at which point she will be able to shoot even when being attacked by melee attacks.
Shattering Shot is your next priority, and after that pick talents at your own desired pace, but I personally find Scattershot to be hugely useful.
If you do not spec Leliana for melee fighting, then the top row of Rogue is pointless beyond Dirty Fighting.
I recommend picking the lockpicking talents for Leliana, and the Bard talents up to Song of Courage.
If your Warden is a Rogue who will be picking the locks, then for Leliana it's worth it to invest in the Rogue talents that culminate with Evasion.
Sustains to Activate Manually: Song of Valor or Courage, your choice.
Suppressing Fire is a good sustain, but only if you find that she has enough stamina for your needs.
I personally prefer having more stamina over a second sustain.
Knocking enemies off their feet is also why I use it against enemies attacking the Healer.
Because you get so few tactics slots in Origins, there are many other occasions on which Leliana could probably be using Critical Shot, or Arrow of Slaying dragon age origins tactics slots you get it.
For both powers, especially Arrow of Slaying, you will need to keep an eye out for activating it manually.
The above tactics spread is meant to be more universally applicable.
Finally, leading with Scattershot on Alistair's target is meant to temporarily freeze in place, via stun, all the enemies he has gathered - thus allowing one of your Mages to dragon age origins tactics slots down an area of effect spell, or Zevran to get in there and unleash a bunch of critical hits.

Skills: Prioritize Combat Training first, then combat Tactics with the build I am recommending for him, not much variety is required so Combat Tactics is less important right away.

Talents: In my opinion, Zevran really comes into his own only after you can unlock the first row of Rogue talents up to Coup De Grace.
This power is what allows the dual wielding Rogue to become a truly integrated part of the team, cooperating with other characters who can stun or paralyze enemies.
In addition to Coup De Grace, maxing out Assassin is key.
The second row of Rogue is useful for the Evasion talent, since Zevran spends his time in the thick of it in melee.
In Dual Weapons, maxing the top row is most important, and everything after that is kind of up to you, though I recommend taking at least Dual Weapon Sweep from the last row.
I do not bother to invest any points in Duelist unless I already have all the Dual Weapon talents I may want.
Sustains to Activate Manually: None.
Throw in Leliana with Scattershot, and it's a festival!
Additionally, having Zevran programmed to attack, primarily, only the targets of other characters means he will almost always be flanking, and that's how a Rogue deals the most damage.
If you are running Zevran in a party with a Tank that is not Alistair, change all tactics that have Alistair as a trigger in them to reflect whichever character is serving as your Tank.
In fact, that holds true for all characters who have Alistair as a trigger assuming that he is the Tank; alter tactics accordingly.
Then dragon age origins tactics slots the love evenly between Dexterity if he's missing all the time with his attacks then he's useless and Willpower if he can't use his talents because he's out of stamina, no joywith some attention paid to Constitution for survivability.
Skills: Combat Training and Combat Tactics equally important.

If you want an extra measure of security for a Mage or Rogue Warden, even if they're not the healer, change tactic 5 to "Attacking Main Character".
As he has only one specialization, I make it just Champion, and max this out.
Replace Tactic 2 on Oghren's list Activate: Bersker with: 2.
Talents: It's best to max out the Dog talents first, and then work on the top row of the Warrior tree.
Because you get even fewer tactics slots for Dog than others, you have to prioritize carefully.
Enemy: Health Shred 5.
Behavior: Aggressive Stats: Strength and Constitution are most important, for this Tank build for Shale.
Spend remaining points in Dexterity.
Talents: You will have enough points to max out almost all of Shale's abilities eventually.
Using her as a Tank, I recommend getting the second row of Warrior up to Taunt ASAP, then maxing out the Stoneheart row and the top row of Warrior before anything else.
After that I think Pulverizing blows is the better damage-dealing tree.
Sidenote: as a Tank, Ice Crystals for Armor and Nature Crystals for Weapons are best, at least at higher levels.
As with Dog, you get few tactics slots, so leaving attacking to the auto attack and prioritizing other abilities is best.
Behavior: Ranged Stats: As with Wynne, Morrigan's Magic score needs to be high enough to meet prerequisites for talents and items, but otherwise put it all read more Willpower.
Mages need as many tactics slots as possible, since variety and adaptability is what makes them most potent.
Second priority should be Combat Training.
Only after those two should you worry about something like Herbalism.
Talents: This is where things get really personalized, as there are so many ways to build an effective Mage.
This is just one of many possible builds for Morrigan.
I do not personally use Shapeshifter, and I always make her second specialization Spirit Healer because Group Heal and Revival are too useful.
My first priority is always to max out the bottom row of the Spirit school, because Crushing Prison is a must.
From Entropy, all Hexes are good.
I would recommend dragon age origins tactics slots either the top row Mass Paralysis or bottom row Waking Nightmarebut not both as that would suck up most of your points.
Then I suggest maxing out the Frost and Electricity rows of Primal.
Which is also the reason I use lightning runes in weapons most often.
Sustains to Activate Manually: Telekinetic Weapons.
Unfortunately, there are simply not enough tactics slots to use a Mage effectively entirely on AI.
The large area of effect spells Blizzard, Tempest, Mass Paralysis, Sleep are most effective when triggered manually.
Just bounce to your Mage sometime during the fight and throw these down.
The following tactics are to give your Mage an AI while those spells are on cooldown.
Replace Vulnerability with Affliction as soon as you get it, because this will weaken all of the enemies that your Tank should have gathered around them via Taunt.
When using area of effect spells manually, it's good to throw down Mass Paralysis only once Zevran, or anyone who can benefit from attacking paralyzed enemies, is in the thick of things within reach of the buffet-o'-death.
Because the Warden has the same powers to choose from as free download the avengers age of ultron companions, most of the above is equally applicable to the player character.
With possibly the exception of Arcane Warrior, which requires a special approach all its own.

Remember that a currently selected character will have his/her Tactics deactivated (unless you are using Advanced Tactics Mod), so I normally controls my Warden and leave the others on auto-pilot. Oh, there should be no reason to spend Skill Points on Combat Tactics to get additional tactic slots. You will gain them automatically when you level up.

Really, I've no wish microing Alistair while he's watching a Darkspawn running by him.
I'd much rather focus on my own character.
So: What are some good Tactics presets?
Which is the best behavior for various characters?
Alistair is sort of easy to manage.
Mages and rogues require more work than him.
If dragon age origins tactics slots own character is a tank, then Alistair should use Threaten instead and your character should use Taunt.
Both characters can use Taunt, but Alistair is usually a lot weaker tank than Warden, which causes your team to waste healing spells and pouches, if enemies are dragon age origins tactics slots over two tank characters.
If you are playing unpatched game meaning that you have not added fixes from Nexusthen just use Shield Wall all the time.
If you have patched your game from Nexus, then you will have to decide if you want the constant -20% damage reduction from Shield Wall, or just set Alistair to use it against Boss level enemies.
I am usually setting Assault to target more robust enemies, because it can drain Stamina from other talents.
That 15 points makes a difference, if you are using it constantly.
Cleanse Area is conditional and you should use it manually, or you might end up clearing friendly spells as well.
Alistair's Holy Smite is very weak and there is little reason to progress that far in the tree anyway, if he is your only tank.
Focus games to play brain online age Champion talents instead.
Set him to use them in mid health.
Alistair stops his tactis run to sip the pouch, so there is no point of using one, if it does not heal him a lot.
Later it depends what sort of mage you have and if anyone is actually making pouches that would make a difference enough to have Alistair stop his tactics run to sip them.
I usually rather rely on my healer to keep him going.
It is hard to say more, when we don't know what sort of character you are playing and who else is in the team.
I never bothered with Cautious or Passive.
Oh, there should be no reason to spend Skill Points on Combat Tactics to get additional tactic slots.
You will gain them automatically when you level up.
I use Raven Respec Mod to rid off the default one on my Mage Warden and Wynne's excessive slots.
