I'm trying to make a very simple blackjack game to play against the computer.
go here now made it, without using GUI in one class.
It's quite big and now I want to try to make it possible to split.
However, I would like to make methods like "drawcard".
Now I use a switch for this and call the "drawcard" method in the main class.
But, if I place my switch drawcard in an method in an other class, I can only return 1 variable, and I want to return more the name of the card, the points you get by it and if it's a ace or not.
I just started with learning so sorry source I don't use the correct terms.
I can copy the code I have now, but then I have to translate some names of variables and text.
Could I just copy the Blackjack java game code in the message?
Could anybody give me some advise if I should use more classes or not?
Maybe I just have to learn more.
With a proper OO design, only have to return one thing.
You should be able to create a 'card' class that would hold the rank A-K and a suit.
I would NOT have it return a value, since the value is not a property of the card, but of the rules of the game of blackjack.
There are only two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming blackjack java game code, and off-by-one errors Thank you.
I wrote the java code in English.
here don't laugh at my very-beginner simple code or don't laugh to hard I'm trying to learn java on my own.
The code does work.
If I would make one method to generate a card, should I use an blackjack java game code method to determine the value and one to determine if it's a ace or not?
Or do I make it more difficult than I should by using multiple methods for a simple game?
This is my code: import static java.

Nobody here is going to laugh at you.
If they do, let a moderator know, and we'll smack them down.
I don't have time to look at your 300+ lines of code, but I'd probably approach it this way.
The idea is that a method should do one simple thing, and do it well.
And methods can of course call other methods.
So you may have a method called 'getValueOfHand'.
That may call possibly many times 'getValueOfCard' and 'getNumOfAces'.
I would probably sum up all the values and have all aces always worth 11.
If no, the hand busts.
If yes, I could loop and subtract 10 for each ace until my total is under 21.
There are only two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors.

Check out the begining of my blackjack game, and feel free to guide me through criticism, or add on to what I have started.
So unless something is not working right or you are getting errors, I wouldn't expect too much in the way of code reviews of apparently working programs.
Lol, I kind of figured I would get a response along those lines.
I was just posting it for fun to see if anyone could suggest a cleaner method of coding it, or let me know if this is going to be to hard.
I guess if I can't get blackjack java game code, I'll just ask for more specific help in the coming days of getting this thing to run!!
I'll give that a look see and try and figure out how to put it into my program.
It seems a little advanced for my level of programing, maybe Continue reading am just looking at it funny.
If it works, you'll get the thanks for it!!
Lol I am not questioning if it actually works I am sure that it does.
However I am wondering if I will be blackjack java game code to make it work in my program and i don;t think I am going to!!
I don't understand the logic behind it I guess, its blackjack java game code to explain.
I will have a better chance to look at it on Thursday though!!!!
I got blackjack java game code on my blackjack program.
I got 100% on my blackjack program.
Woot Nice work KYA but what little time I have been here seems like that's all we get from you!
Once again Nice Job Okay I want to make a do while loop for the user when they are given the option to hit or stand instead of coding to ask the user again and again like I am right now.
Once you're done consider putting a simple GUI on it.
It's much more satisfying.
Obligatory screen capture: Edit: BTW - did you consider the duality of the Ace?
This post has been edited by Programmist: 11 December 2008 - 09:56 PM Lol I actually check the value of the ace when the initial cards are dealt, but I don't do any checks if the user hits and gets an ace.
I just left the value at one.
Also the betting is absurd!
I'm sure blackjack java game code are some other kinks in there as well.

This project provides a framework for a blackjack game simulator. I don't know if this will be useful to someone... Well, it could be useful to gamblers for testing tactics they have heard of. I had to do a presentation, so I hacked something together and in the end, I got this, so it leaves many.

That's great thank you!
I am to make the program a total of 3 times, improving it each time.

Two last questions: How would you deal with user input?
I want to do this for the third time I write the program Thanks for your help.
Yes, something along those lines is OK, at least for now.

You have a Player class which has a collection "hand" of Cards and methods to determine whnether that Player wants to twist or whatever.
YOu may have a specialised sub-class of Player for the Dealer because the Dealer is almost but not quite the same as an ordinary player.
All this puts you in a position where you can code the top-level so its so clear that it needs no comments.

Let's take a look at a real world example and a fun one as well. The game Blackjack lends itself well to object oriented design because it has physical objects that can be modeled in object-oriented code, i.e. players, a dealer, cards, etc. These objects have relationships to one another as well. Players have hands that have cards.

If yes, I could loop and subtract 10 for each ace until my total is under 21.
