Best Poker Books There are two types of poker book; the ones you read once and the ones that you read again and again throughout your poker career.
Below is a list of what I believe to be best strategy books in each category from general strategy, strategy, tournament strategy and ebooks.
Texas Hold'em strategy books.
It does not address the game of Texas Hold'em specifically, but the true value of the book is that it teaches you how to think like a winning poker player.
Starting hand charts and quick-fix rules will only take you so far, as being able to make the best plays possible based on your analysis of a situation makes the difference between an average and great player.
It's a must read for every serious poker player.
I would however recommend that you have a least a basic knowledge of the fundamental aspects of the game, as the strategy may well be very hard to digest for anyone very new to poker.
It is an enjoyable read and contains informative strategy for helping you develop a solid all-round game.
I would personally choose Theory of Poker over this if I could only choose one "general" strategy book to read, but that's not to say this doesn't have slot games free book of />I'd would however choose this book over ToP if I was very new to the game due to the fact that it is easier to follow and understand.
No Limit Hold'em: Theory and Practice can be hard to follow at times, but it does contain a lot of very valuable information.
The material is a little complicated, but it is well worth reading if you want to be able to absorb some of the most advanced strategy that you can get from a Hold'em strategy book.
igre book ra 2 of the most useful topics of the book iswhich explains the importance of .
A number of other unique topics are covered in later sections that have no been covered so well in other books.
This is not an easy read for beginner players, and it may act as more of a re-cap for advanced players.
I would recommend this book to players working on moving from a break-even to winning game.
It's a close call between Theory and Practice and this, but I prefer reading Professional No Limit Hold'em.
Tournament strategy MTTs and SnGs.
Every time I read it, I pick up something new that I had never fully considered before.
It is not the most advanced book out there, but it definitely has a lot to offer to the beginner players and a little something for intermediate players.
The book is split up into digestible segments and is very easy pick out useful information without being overloaded with too much strategy and thought processes at once.
I will go ahead and say that this is my favourite Texas Hold'em strategy book to read.
If anyone ever asks for a recommendation on a good tournament strategy book, you can be sure that the question is quickly followed by the acronym HoH.
This first book covers the main bulk of strategic play of tournament poker.
The book contains a lot of useful hand examples with each individual being explained very clearly and succinctly.
HoH is comfortably one of if not the best series of books for tournament poker strategy.
This book is equally as good as the first and focuses on endgame strategy as opposed to early strategic play.
The majority of tournament players will buy both volume 1 + 2, as they go hand in hand.
Think of them as one big book split up in to two.
The is more of a optional extra, although it does contain some great stuff.
I wouldn't recommend this book over the tournament books by Harrington, but I will say that it should be on the list of essential reading for anyone looking to play solid tournament poker.
The Poker Tournament Formula takes a slightly more aggressive approach to playing poker tournaments, which is why it works to your advantage to read both the HoH games online book free ra of and this.
If you are looking to expand your tournament strategy after HoH 1, 2 and 3, look no further.
This book takes it up a level, and contains more advanced information on how to play later streets.
This book covers both MTT and SnG strategy.
Kill Everyone is quite like a Sklansky book in that it contains a lot of great strategy, but it is not an easy read.
I wouldn't recommend this book to a novice, but I think that any intermediate player will find this very valuable indeed.
I believe that this is the best NL SNG specific strategy book out there, with the book being packed with quality strategy and very informative hand examples.
This isn't a book for complete novices, as it does require that you have some basic knowledge of SnG games and how to play poker.
However, I think that a beginner player should be able to digest the majority of information in this book.
Overall, you're not going to find a better strategy book best no limit holdem books cash games Sit 'n Go poker games.
For a big list of very useful and informative reviews on the majority of these continue reading, check out the.
The user reviews on the Amazon site itself also do a very honest job of helping you find the better books.
If books are not really your thing, there is a handful of genuinely useful out there to buy.
There are a load of really bad Texas Hold'em strategy ebooks out there, so be careful.
Anybody can write an "ebook", claim it is the best strategy in the world and then sell it to the unsuspecting visitor.
When it comes to poker ebooks, you are far better off going on recommendations as opposed to how good the sales page sounds.
These are genuinely valuable ebooks with great strategic advice.
You are not going to find a more informative ebook with such great strategy anywhere else, and I highly recommend that every 6max player reads this book - it's a gem.
Here is a discussing the ebook.
A very useful chapter from this book is about understanding PokerTracker best video game lore books and how to play against opponents based on these stats.
I don't believe that you will find a clearer guide to these stats anywhere else.
However, every player that has read this book will agree that it is great value for money, so you will not feel hard done by with the quality of strategy information provided.
In fact, this should really be made in to an actual book.
Written by the well known writers; Miller, Mehta and Flynn, this is the most thorough piece of work that you are going to come across for 6max cash game strategy.
You can find out more about the quality of this book in the.
As I say, you should be very skeptical about any ebook with a big long sales page.
Anyone can write a book and tell you it's the best strategy ever, but a lot of the time they do not deliver.
If you ever have any concerns about the quality of an ebook or normal book, search for online reviews.
The usually give very critical and honest advice, so try searching those.
Highly advanced strategy ebooks.
These books are definitely not recommended for the beginner or intermediate player.

Very impressed, has really check this out a difference to how I play my game from when I first started.
Definitely built up my confidence in the game and helping me to stop spewing off chips.
You've helped my game tremendously.
Postflop content, C-betting, frequencies, how to play certain hands, most important point to focus on, observing opponent's tendencies more than one's own hole cards, proper hand analysis - and a lot more.
All in all, BTF's content is second to none.
I have greatly improved my game by using your charts etc.

I have read many poker books and this is probably the best no limit cash game book I have read, especially for covering all stakes. Largay's low limit book is a good read for a very limited game and probably offers some more intensive coverage of that slice of the pie but Harrington covers most of what Largay does and much more in this book.

Tanenbaum, a professional player and writer, focuses on methods you can apply to dominate your table, including confusing opponents, identifying and dominating weak players, exploiting your position, playing for maximum effectiveness, winning without the best hand.

Thanks Angle Largay's book is actually decent for live, but be careful, cause a lot of it ONLY works at live, and is terrible "poker theory".

This this web page has been asked often.
I think the two best books for live NL play are "Winning Strategies for No-Limit Hold'em" By Nick Christenson and Russell Fox and "Cash Games How to Win at No-Limit Hold'em Money Games " Vol.
I highly recommend both books.
After that the books you need to study are Professional NLH and NLH Theory and Practice.
I don't recommend Harrington's books.
I think they have many bad advices.
Here is one example read RedJoker's posts : Get both and some more.
Professional No Limit Hold'em and Cash Games both volumes by Harrington.
Plus all 2+2 books by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth if you want to understand the nuts and bolts of the art of poker.
One or two books is not going to do it.
You may think that you don't need the 2+2 poker education but to become good at poker you've got to do some hard study for years.
Why poker would be different?
It take hard study and lots of live experience to achieve high level in poker.
Couple books will not get you nowhere.
But for the beginning get Harrington but still you've got to know how the game goes before you can apply Harrington.
Fish moving all in most every hand.
I really like Dusty's book, "Don't Listen to Phil Hellmouth.
I don't think there is anything groundbreaking for anyone if there who plays higher than 100NL best no limit holdem books cash games online there could be - but it has been extremely helpful to me.
Some of the sections on when to barrel, when to not barrel, or when to play your draws aggressively vs.
Its a good read and I'd suggest it best no limit holdem books cash games any poker player.
Before you get into specifics I would recommend all books by David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth.
They are all GOLD.
Without the theoretical base you'll not go far.
So study their work first.
For best no limit holdem books cash games games no matter what the blinds are I would recommend Best no limit holdem books cash games Largay "No-Limit Texas Hold'em a Complete Course" and Ed Miller "Professional No Limit V1".
If you learn what Angel and Ed is writing in theirs books I am convinced a smart dude can beat all games.
I would even go so far as to say that Angel and Ed books will make you a big winner no matter who are the other uneducated dudes on your table.
Professional No Limit Holdem or Harrington?
Thanks suggestion : unless you give the forum some background info.
Building a NLHE Starting Hand Chart 2.
You might also want to add a poker pyschology book or two by Alan Schoonmaker.
Not trying to be a wiseguy but questions need context if you want a decent answer because we all know " it depends.

Of your 2000+ posts, I hope that this was your worst one.
I'm currently reading Harrington on Cash Games V1 and would recommend it.
Its a bit old but still relevant imo.
After grinding micros and small stakes online for years a Casino popped up in my back yard.
These games are totally different than online games and you best no limit holdem books cash games have to make certain adjustments to win consistently.
Bring your winning 25nl game to those tables at your peril.
I've been looking for a good book on this subject myself and I haven't found it.
There are so many things I'm struggling to put to rest one way or the other right now but because so many factors will try and pull you in different directions.
I should be able to play more hands against bad players the old "play tight vs loose and loose vs tight" mantra is self defeating and illogical all other things considered equal I should be able to play more value hands vs stations and more bluffs vs nits but when the average stack is smaller than normal and the average open raise is huge but my opponents are terrible where does that leave me with marginal hands?
So maybe we should vary our bet sizes according to our hand strength, Go here hate that idea but I have to admit its growing on me.
Maybe we should establish an open limp range play like a fish to beat fish?
Why bleed off money open raising and iso-raising medium pairs and mediocre hands only to go three ways to the flop, not find good c-bet spots, and deny yourself implied odds to set mine when you can stack the guy with 50 bigs in a limped pot almost as easily as a raised one?
I haven't you don't have to read books for live poker because you can see their eyes and know when they are bluffing This seemed like a relevant thread to post this in.

Hold'em is a rather easy game to learn but a tough game to master, partly because the game doesn't always follow a set of rules. Tanenbaum, a professional player and writer, focuses on methods you can apply to dominate your table, including confusing opponents, identifying and dominating weak players, exploiting your position, playing for maximum effectiveness, winning without the best hand.

Editor's note: Poker Books are as important as ever.
Even though there's a lot of content out there, poker books are still something to improve your game by.
Before you buy a poker book, though, be sure to check out the.
Equally important, go through the section for an extensive library of free poker content.
My task is to select the most important strategy books ever written from the many hundreds of texts which have been published.
Before proceeding, an explanation of criteria I used in the best no limit holdem books cash games process https://gsdonline.ru/book/make-a-story-book-games.html warranted.
For example, an best no limit holdem books cash games poker book containing sophisticated concepts might be a great primer for experienced players.
But for the vast majority of recreational and novice players, something far more simple is probably needed.
According to my estimate, about 450 poker strategy books are now available through Amazon, and other sources.
That said — any poker book that improves our understanding of the game and inspires us to think more deeply about poker strategy is likely to be well worth the price.
Hence, most poker strategy books — even those containing some questionable advice — are at least worth reading and thinking about, even if not following the advice to the letter.
What I have highlighted here are the books that had a profound impact on the game and altered the thinking of a significant number of players.
I refer to books that fundamentally changed the way poker is now played.
Some books were so influential when they were written, that to have not read them put those who were ignorant at a best game theory book competitive disadvantage much of the Two Plus Two 2+2 catalog best no limit holdem books cash games here.
These master works not only helped us become better players, but they also explain why the conclusions drawn are correct.
A few others are more obscure titles, but still managed to gain peer respect, and even went on to fundamentally advance the science of poker thinking.
Naturally, critical and public reaction to each of these titles weighed heavily on inclusion versus exclusion.
To be selected, each book had to achieve some measure of best no limit holdem books cash games />By success, I mean a favorable critical reception, noteworthy book sales, or both.
The best books were respected by the critics and also managed to sell reasonably well.
Did the book become obscure after only a few years?
Or, might the book be fundamentally sound and still worth reading — even today?
But there was a time when the Full Tilt Poker stable of pros were the rock stars of the game.
If you can get past some of the names and ignore the harm they did to the game, just about all the advice is solid.
In other words, whenever possible, put the best players to a decision for all their chips.
Any Title by Lou Krieger — Mid-stakes poker pro and prolific writer Lou Krieger passed away a few years ago, but he left us all with a wealth of interesting study material, mostly on how to play and beat low- to mid-stakes cash games.
Krieger wrote eight books, plus several hundred columns for CardPlayer magazine.
Just about any of his works are worth reading.
No single book stands out from what is a solid library on poker strategy.
Angelo, a well-respected pro player and coach examines poker from many different perspectives, including a total of 144 angles.
It deserves a lot more love.
This book was released at the height of his fame, coming off his role as host of the television show Celebrity Poker.
Schoonmaker 2000 — Dr.
Schoonmaker is a retired psychologist who plays low-stakes games in Las Vegas.
I think that says a lot about this author and what he values.
Even today when I run into Dr.
That best no limit holdem books cash games of wisdom — from his days as a psychologist to his nights at the poker table — was filtered and eventually put into words in the form of The Psychology of Poker, and his highly-recommended follow up book, Your Worst Poker Enemy: Mastering the Mental Game released in 2007.
Recreational players and those with no math background will have a difficult time understanding the text, or following what the authors try to prove.
However, both books are noteworthy for their intensive attention to detail and demonstration that winning poker is both an art and a science.
Most books need time to measure properly and years to assess fully.
However, this book appears destined for great acclaim given its superior reviews just about everywhere.
A year later, he was sitting at the final table of a million-dollar tournament called the Tournament of Champions.
This book is actually a sort of premonition.
Amazingly, he only plays poker part time.
Most authors win big tournaments and become famous, and then they write poker books.
The ultra-confident Matros did the opposite.
The author actually goes into considerable detail about how to apply Zen philosophy to what you do and how you act at the poker table.
Well received and a niche guide for self-improvement.
However, any title of the few dozen from this excellent collection of poker books deserves a look, and probably a read.
I include this generic recommendation because just about any just click for source the 2+2 publications are at least worthy of honorable mention.
The Top 10 Poker Poker Strategy Books 10.
Many of his ideas on how to play poker have made me take a second look at some conventional strategies I thought to be true.
Critically acclaimed and groundbreaking, yet still largely underappreciated, Every Hand Revealed merits a spot on this list.
In 1984, Caro first released The Body Language of Poker, which analyzed just what it says, body language — including posturing, facial movements, voice inflections, and so forth.
His original book was updated 10 years later with new photos and deeper analysis.
While not as relevant today and probably applicable only to low-stakes games if at allthis was a groundbreaking work for its time which was think, slot machine games book of ra safe often and was the subject of conversation during many games.
It receives no style points.
In fact, the concept is almost too simple.
I used to think he was crazy for writing some of these things.
But he turned out to be mostly right.
Malmuth broke down a variety of different situations and ended up fundamentally altering the course of games, especially in the period from 1988 two years after flop games were legalized in California and 2003, when limit started experiencing a decline in popularity.
Even serious players would have a hard time identifying it.
However, it should be remembered fondly.
When agreeing to this assignment, one of the first calls I made was to Dan Harrington.
I asked him which strategy books had meant the most to him.
Without hesitation, he listed Winning Poker Systems as a monumentally important contribution to poker theory.
Released in 1973 when there were virtually no poker books on the market, this was a groundbreaking first step in what would later become a foot race to lay out the best strategy for winning.
While terribly dated now because it mostly addresses best no limit holdem books cash games poker games like five-card draw and lowball which were the only legal games played in California at the timeit was the first book to chart starting hands and stress the importance of position.
David Sklansky has also repeatedly sung the praises of this book and its author, Norman Zadah, then a young doctoral student who was studying for his degree in Applied Mathematics at Cal-Berkeley.
For some, it remains so even today.
After this was published, Jones later went on to become the Site Manager for PokerStars.
No doubt, one of the reasons he got that coveted job was because of his tremendous understanding of the mind of the average poker player.
At best, perhaps several thousand people actually knew how to play the game.
After this book was published, that number would expand into the hundreds of thousands, and eventually millions.
The original edition is somewhat dated now, since most games during that time included only a single blind, so Sklansky updated his book in 1997 to account for the double-blind structure.
Harrington co-authored this book with Bill Robertie, a master chess player and game theorist.
No doubt, all of these books made poker much tougher to beat.
But the first release likely will stand as one of the best strategy books ever written.
Still, the book sold steadily over three decades, propelled by a highly-anticipated re-release by Cardoza Publishing in a far less-expensive paperback format.
Indeed, this book packs in a lot of poker knowledge that can be taken to the bank.
Aside from strategy, the narrative chapters in which Brunson recalls his poker exploits from the old days come as a highly-entertaining bonus.
Co-authors include the late David "Chip" Reese, Mike Caro, David Sklansky, Joey Hawthorne, Bobby Baldwin, and of course the man himself, Doyle Brunson.
This remains an amazing poker book that was decades ahead of its time — arguably the best ever both in terms of quantity and quality.
At 276 pages long divided into 25 chapters, this book from Two Plus Two Publishing contains all the basic strategic fundamentals.
While not necessarily entertaining nor appealing to casual readers or anyone else other than serious players, this book contains nearly a lifetime of well-researched and painstakingly debated poker concepts, ultimately encapsulated in the sub-title, How to Think Like a Professional Poker Player.
He's best known as the longtime Media Director of https://gsdonline.ru/book/free-game-jungle-book.html World Series of Poker.

Largay's low limit book is a good read for a very limited game and probably offers some more intensive coverage of that slice of the pie but Harrington covers most of what Largay does and much more in this book.
I have read a lot of poker books where the hand examples are almost unbearable best no limit holdem books cash games read; in this book I found the presentation of them interesting and understandable.
Whoever did the editing learn more here the hand examples seems to have taken special care to make them more easily read than in most poker books, this alone is very helpful.
I enjoyed this book.
I take a star off my rating because I am primarily playing live games, and there were a lot of examples targeted to online players.
That said, I enjoyed the example hands and the thought processes behind those examples, but I felt there were a bit too many of them.
As other reviewers have noted, check this out TAG style was https://gsdonline.ru/book/amazon-books-pawns-in-the-game.html much attention than the LAG style of play.
I read both volumes and would happily recommend both.
They say that 'luck is the residue of preparation'.
This is especially true when it comes playing poker.
So, plan to get very lucky after you read Dan Harrington's 2 volumes on cash game no limit hold'em.
I've been a limit player for 20 years.
Recently, I decided to devote myself to no limit because of the greater profit in these games.
From my general knowledge, I knew that there were significant strategy differences in correct strategy for no limit so I read a couple of books.
However, these books didn't really help very much.
Then I got Harrington's books read more it was like someone had turned on a light in a dark room.
It made a world of difference in my game.
I 'get it' now.
I mention this because some of the reviews of these books have critized them for being too basic.
However, if you're playing in a small game, basic strategy is probably the BEST strategy.
In the second volume, there is a chapter about playing in small no limit games.
I recommend you jump ahead and read it first.
Keeping this chapter in mind as you read everything else will really give you a great perspective on how to beat a small no limit game.
With respect to beating the bigger games, I really don't know if these books will help because I'm not playing in those games yet.
But if you are new to no limit, or you are read article having trouble beating the small game you're playing in, these books are great.
I have been playing cash games for almost 40 years and have read a lot of books.
After reading Cash Games I applied some of Harrington concepts in my games and seen an improvement.
Of all the books I have read about poker and gaming I would rate this as on of the top 5.
I plan on rereading the book and study it closer now that I am believer in most of his strategies.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is I would like to seen a whole chapter on what you do for the hours between the time you can play a hand.
He discusses it some in most chapters, but since you spend most of your time not playing a hand I would like to see more details about the dead time.
I would recommend this book to anybody who want to improve there game.
Keep in mind no one reads a book and becomes a champion the next day it takes years of dedication practice and whether you like it or not some luck too ,but best no limit holdem books cash games book is a great read and must have for any true grinders poker library.
No nonsense and purely logical.
One of the best if not the best book that I have read in poker.
It is important to know the difference between cash games and tournaments.
The books is very easy to read and gives great examples.
I highly recommend this book, it is woth your investment.
I look forward on buying the volumen 2 and 3 No, this book won't offer a lot for intermediate or advanced players.
But then again, it wasn't intended to.
Dan Harrington's series is for beginners; an introduction to the world of playing No Limit Hold 'Em cash games a very different animal from online play.
The analysis that Harrington offers from the perspective of various players' positionsis second-to-none in terms of usability.
If you're here and wondering if it's worth it, do yourself a favor and at least pick up the first book in the series.
You won't be disappointed.
